I have dined at Survey Cafe several times now for both lunch and brunch and have introduced this quaint cafe to my husband and friends. The lesson: stick with what they do well at Survey Cafe and eat dinner elsewhere. Neither of us finished the unappetizing and bland dish, at $23 per plate (twice the price of most lasagne dishes in a modest Italian restaurant). It was a small dish, soupy, with a small amount of pasta (normally, of course, lasagne is layered thickly with sheets of pasta), some chunks of tomato and lots of cheese. I’ve had lasagne many times in my life and what we were served resembled none of those earlier dishes. We settled for the “vegetarian lasagne.” (The third member ordered the on-menu cod and enjoyed it). (Out of chicken? Champagne? There was only one other dinner party, so there could not have been a run on chicken).
